I am Pablo Díaz Jarufe,
I was made my undergraduate studies in Physical Anthropology in the University of Chile, at the Social Sciences Faculty.
For people taht don´t know, the Physical Anthropology is the sciense that study the human variability in relation to the cultural practice of different popoulations around the world. Our material and methods are based, essentialy, in the extracction of all the posibble data of human remains, principaly, the human bones. For this pourpose we observe the bones, we measured and even we can extract the genes of the bones or tissues to identify the person or identify the populational origin of the human remains. With this data we can stimate de sex, the age, the populational affinites, etc. Even we can work in judicial cases in the people identification and / or indicating the cause of death by the only analisys of human bones.
Today, I have study a Maestry in Biological Sciences with a major in Genteics at the Medicine Faculty, University of Chile.
My Line of investigation it´s focused in the biological variabilty and chilean population microevolution. This implies the study of the origin of chilean population, sensu, the peopling of the americas and the peopling of chile, the varibility and dispersion of the arqueological populations of chile and the varibility of the actual chileans, particulary about the sexual dimorphism and the robusticity indicators of our people.
In this postgradute studies, I hope to learn the necesary technics to relate the genetic variability with the morphological variabilty of the human skeleton and, eventualy, relate this variables with cultural activities like ocupation, socioeconimical status, nutrition, etc.
Well folks, this is mi presentation to the english course. I hope that we can colaborate in the devolpment of our knowledge and our english skills.
